Dear Parler Paris Reader,

I am writing you from Miami where it is moderately warm and beautifully sunny. Yesterday, Parler Paris Aprs Midi was my last official duty before leaving on a flight the next morning...and the snow was coming down. Still, we had a respectable attendance for a cold and wet day. Past attendee WENDY SANDER "from London" salutes Parler Paris Aprs Midi with a beer in tandem with regular "WYNN JONES, the other "Brit." Wendy lives just a few blocks away on little rue Commines who doesn't know why she bought the apartment, other than like the rest of us..."she loves Paris."

IL Paris office intern SIBEL PINTO celebrated her birthday with us and announced that it was snowing -- she had brought it with her from her home town of Versailles. IL Paris Office Assistant, John Ferrier, was with us, too along with old friend JOANN FLOOD from NYC. She came for a brief visit in her bright red coat from the pied--terre in the 10th she calls home every few months. Joann says her life changed when I introduced her to Kathy Burke, American artist who gives painting/drawing workshops. Now Joann is painting up a storm.

SANDY ZAYAS who still lives in her 10-square-meter duplex on the Ile Saint Louis had taken six weeks to be home in the States and returned to say hello to us. LINDA QUINET who travels a lot, and does a Web site for starving artists managed to stop in for the first time along with JOHN AGEE, a jewelry designer from Los Angeles who was here just for a short visit, but luckily it coincided with our meeting date.

BEATA and PETER KANE came once again after more than one year of absence. They unfortunately must give up their beautiful 7th arrondissement apartment near Invalides for about a year and are hoping to find a sublet during that period. We realized the coincidence when DAWN-KIMBERLY MARTIN, attorney and English teacher, walked in -- that she was playing the role of assistant' to Jean Taquet at the same time I was meeting with him last week, although we didn't know we were both there. She moved here to "indulge herself on everything Parisien" and to "live 'the dream.'"

PATRICIA LAPLANTE-COLLINS, a regular and the coordinator of "Paris Soires," brought her pup, Eve, along as always...we were wondering when the dogs would arrive. (To be on her mailing list for Paris Soirees, email her at parissoirees@noos.fr.)

Half Finnish, half Swiss MARJA-LIISA STREBEL came to Paris to work at the Finnish Embassy 30 years ago, married a German-speaking Swiss who preferred Paris to any other place and laughs that she is still "surrounded by foreigners." MYRNA WALTER from Berkeley, California, just bought an apartment here with the plan to live here half the year with her husband.

Author and business consultant, KRISTIN SHANNON, came for a second time...enjoys the art scene in Paris and studying sculpture. I was surprised at how much newcomer DOLORES LILLEY reminded me of author, Polly Platt, although she didn't know who Polly was. She first came to Paris to work at the OECD and quickly made Paris her second home.

ERIK FALVEY chatted with newcomers in the corner spot, but snuck away much about himself.

A la prochaine...
