MEETING OF OCTOBER 9, 2007
Photos do not necessarily match descriptions.

Mary Louise Sillman, the first to enter and always bejeweled in her own creations, bestowed on me hand-blown glass red hot chili peppers she crafted into earrings and necklace to match my red eyeglasses. How did she know I have particular affection for the little spicy beasts!?

She and Richard Smith hit it off -- he's a contractor/builder with a PhD in history (!) who after George W. got re-elected, decided to set up a home away from home in the countryside of Normandy. Now he's looking to find a pied-à-terre in Paris to split his time here with New York and then learn a little French. Richard is set to attend the Living and Investing in France Conference on Saturday with a few of the other Après Midi attendees...

Judith Lundin and Pam Miller, are both here to attend the Conference.

Alan Smid looked different, having just had cataract surgery on his eye that morning and happily not wearing his eyeglasses!

Jill Schrift came without husband, Alan, and Jack Lampert, long time regulars, met newcomers Marcia Cohen, attorney from Florida who lives here half the year on rue Daguerre and Pamela Shandel, poker dealer/photographer/writer who divides her time between Las Vegas and her sweet home in Ville d'Avray outside Paris.

Medora Kattenbach was back again to visit with friends of Parler Paris, as was old friends Patricia Laplante Collins, of Paris Soirées. Mary Ellen Gallagher and Lynda Sydney of the Adrian Leeds Group stopped in to say hello. Lynda is back in Paris for good now after spending the last year in Toronto with occasional trips to Paris. Intern Christa Lynn didn't want her photo taken, but it got taken anyway. She's our hard working volunteer for the Living and Investing in France Conference and Expatica Fair this coming weekend -- bravo, Christa!

Co-coordinator of the Parler Parlor French English Conversation Group, Marie-Elisabeth Crochard, came for the first time to Après Midi, talking about the new eyeglasses she just ordered.

Diane Rossi and Donald De Vries are here babysitting for a friend's children in Saint-Germain and meanwhile taking cooking classes. Not a bad gig to get. Nancy Caldwell comes to Paris every year for about a month in the fall and is looking for a way to do workshops and live here part time.

Stephen and Maureen Gillum from Sarasota used to own a restaurant in Cleveland and began their love affair with Paris with food -- a great reason to come here, no? Now they come every year for the last 15 years and stay in a rental apartment, until they can find one of their own to purchase.

Patricia Landly Stevens visits every year for two months and would like to live in Paris for more time than that. Louida Selgensen is simply here on vacation and Delores Lilley is thank goodness back after a 17-month absence!
