Parler Paris Après-Midi
NEXT MEETING: March 8, 2004 AND EVERY SECOND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This
is your opportunity to meet every month, often with local professionals
who can answer your Working and Living in France questions. You
are invited to come for drinks and share your questions and comments
about what it takes to create a life here, own property and enjoy what
France has to offer. It is also an opportunity to network with other
Parler Paris readers.

MEETING OF FEBRUARY 8, 2005
(Photos do not necessarily match descriptions.)
FPI's
Property Manager, Yolanda Robins, hosted Après
Midi while I was in New Orleans for the Living
and Investing in France Conference...and that certainly didn't
stop lots of regulars and newcomes to come for a coffee and a chat.
Among the regulars were Dale Gaber, Eric Tolbert, Dolores Lilley,
Hat Sternstein, Elisabeth Dupar, Dawn Kimberly-Martin and
Robert Larrea.
Nancy
Szczepanski joined us for the first time -- she's the new Parler
Paris "Calendar Gal." Nancy came to Paris after living in
Japan as it's her life-long dream to be here...an English teacher by
trade, she's determined to find work and create a new life here. Nancy
will be working with me every Wednesday on Parler Paris Previews, a
Weekly Community Calendar for English-Speaking Paris, so send all your
community announcements directly to Nancy at calendar@adrianleeds.com
Sterck
and Kathleen Barnes came initially to sightsee, but ended up
renting an apartment for four weeks and can see themselves moving here
permanently. Eileen McAliney moved here from Philadelphia
with her husband and four kids -- her goal...to have fun, enjoy restaurants,
tours, walks and events. I doubt she'll have a problem accomplishing
her goal. Christopher McKee and Gerard de Nouvehu
didn't tell us much about themselves -- we hope they come again and
share more, but Scott Emerson, who has lived in France
11 years finally took time to drop by! He
came
to France for a week and ended up staying...like lots of us...
Tom Tellefsen and his wife, Myrna Walton,
have been readers for more than a year and purchased an apartment here
just this past fall. They spend five to six months a year in Paris.
How perfect! Kathryn Hayashi has been in Paris a month
subletting an apartment near Sacré Coeur and is looking for a
secretarial job. She was previously working in New York with Merrill
Lynch. Anntoinette Lorrain
married
a Frenchman, stays home with an 18-month-old for the time being, but
her goals are to get out often and finally appreciate foie gras!
Jacques Derhy, originally French, lived five years in Montreal, but loves Paris and returned this past August after living 10 years in Florida. Kathleen Marshall is a painter who moved here in 1989, just purchased an apartment and is starting renovation work. She's raising a bilingual daughter and does portraits on commission.
I can see by the report, it was an afternoon I wouldn't have wanted to miss.
Adrian
