While another "manifestation" against the new laws governing employment of the young was going on not far away, some Après Midi regulars and newcomers braved the transportation ills and crowded streets to come chat and have a drink.
Eva Lee Lichtenberg, a regular visitor from Tranquility, New Jersey, came to say her goodbyes until she can return again in the Summer. Dale Novick Gaber is here now more than less, even though she still has New Orleans post Katrina worries.
Patricia Laplante Collins, of Paris Soirées and Paris Network, who rarely misses an Après Midi, with her pup, Eve, chats it up with Beth Eckenrod, who lives on a barge in the Seine with her husband, Jim.
Mary Louise Sillman, looking lovely in Pink, has become a regular the last few gatherings, and continues her career as a professional designer of costume jewelry and model for TV and print advertising. She's talking with Bonnie Strathmann, a visitor to Paris who came to explore the city, visit the great museums, observe the French and to determine how to spend a year here in the future.
Yolanda Robins, Ellen Jung-Josse and Lynda Sydney, all members of the Parler Paris / French Property Insider team, came to meet with readers and clients. Kimberly Farrell had just arrived that morning to connect with Ellen to start apartment visits in the 14th and 15th arrondissements where they want to live at least a year.
Ana Escomel, a regular at Après Midi, is chief volunteer at the Living and Investing in France Conference March 17 - 19 here in Paris. She and Yolanda are chatting with Susan de Graaf, who came to Paris 27 years ago when her husband was posted here. Her girls were born and educated in Paris. Now a widow, she's living in Yvelines and doesn't see that changing any time soon.
Donald Pelletier, a math teacher from York University in Toronto, is here on Sabbatical while writing a book. He spent some time getting to know Bruce and Cindy Schenck, loyal readers from Iowa who are visiting the city and wanted to stop in and say hello.
Old friends, Claudia Smith and a friend are in Paris on route to their home in Tourbes, Languedoc-Roussillon. Claudia attended one of our first conferences and tours to the south before buying her village house. Delores Lilley, regular visitor, came to reminisce about Sunday's lunch with Susan Loomis, which was memorable, to say the least. And long-time Paris resident, Diana Smith, who comes every once in a while, just to say hello to friends.
Will Faas, a long-time resident of Ile de France, who moved here with his company 14 years ago, married a French woman, bought some investment properties and got French nationality...as he says, "voila!" He came to learn more about what we do and to get to know the team.
