A birthday celebration...
I opted for a "Pastis"* in place of a café crème, then welcomed a lively mix of old friends and new faces (who quickly became new friends). Zora, the personality-plus waitress at "La Pierre du Marais" brought up a slice of "Tarte aux pommes" with a lit candle to honor my birthday celebration, then not long after, Pascal, the waiter, came up to the gathering carrying a huge chocolate mousse cake, plates and forks for everyone to enjoy...a surprise thanks to Florence Richburg, our newest staff member.
The Have Beens and Regulars...
Florence Richburg, my personal assistant who has charmed every man, woman and child she's come in contact with! Many thanks to Florence for the dessert!
Patricia Laplante Collins and her pup, Eve, of Paris Soirées, who always comes late because she's so busy, but comes nonetheless, and announced she just celebrated her 25th year in Paris! Thank you for the lovely card with a photo of Paris by Jan Hanson!
Alexandria Levie and Erwin Petri came for a second time and plan to come a third as they are staying in "Le Balcon Plantée" for three full months!
Nancy Caldwell of Toluca Lake, California, had attended a year earlier and "pretends" to live in Paris three weeks each year. She loves to cook while she's in Paris, tune into her favorite creative juices and enjoy Parisian lifestyle by slowing down and smelling the roses. She is also an accomplished Paper Architect. Many thanks to Nancy for the lovely Photo Log she designed and produced.
Gar Westfall, our favorite Hawaiian, has been back in Paris a couple of weeks for his usual two month stay every six months.
Lynda Sydney, Torontonian and ex-Parler Paris team member landed just that morning for five weeks in her favorite city. We're thrilled to have her back, if even for a short time.
Julie Vetter, Web consultant extraordinaire, came for the first time, but hopefully it won't be her last. Many thanks to Julie for the creamy hot red lipstick and clear trunk box for little goodies!
Mark Kritz, always smiling, is now a long time resident, and came carrying the Metropolitan Museum of Art's "shoe" calendar for 2009...many thanks! The shoes are works of art, to say the least!
Mary Louise Sillman, always adorned by her beautiful hand made jewelry, was happy to reconnect with Linda Stevenson, who had purchased a few baubles from her at a previous Après Midi.
Jack Lampert is back from Saint Louis and Pompano Beach for his usual Fall stay in his Marais apartment not far away.
The New comers...
Jane Stiller is here for only three weeks, but is already dreaming of spending more time here. She attended the Living and Investing in France Real Estate Conference to find out just how she could go about doing that and was anxious to meet new people...how easy at Après Midi!
Kelly Moriarty also attended the conference, here for a short two week holiday which included five days in Italy. She visits her favorite shops, cafés and museums while she's here and noted that she immensely enjoyed the weekend conference.
Linda Stevenson was another one to have attended the conference and is currently renting "Le Provençal." She is hoping to find a way to live here soon.
Bill Dannatt is an Anglo-Norwegian retired teacher who loves Paris and the French culture...except the banking system! He takes art classes, visits conferences and is a member of Paris Historique, not to mention the Parler Parlor French-English Conversation Group, and decided to see what this was all about. He and regular Gar Westfall were dressed like twins...tough to tell them apart except for Bill's eyeglasses.
Antonio Meza, a Mexican living in Paris since 2004, is a specialist in cross-cultural communications, a member of PSI Communications and is an associate of the Coaching Consultancy & NLP School Europe
Gina London, a former CNN correspondent with a husband in graduate school and an adorable daughter named Isabella, who she affectionately calls "Lulu," came to look for fellow Francophiles and make friends.
Julie Weidman is here to celebrate her 50th birthday on October 29th. She loves Paris and comes as often as possible.
Don't we all?
