Aussie
and occasional visitor to Après Midi, Judy Schreiber,
came prepared for the heat -- sporting her battery-operated fan that
sprays a cool mist, on a string around her neck. Get near her and she
let you have it! She happily owns an apartment just a few blocks away
that she keeps rented when she's not here, which is unfortunately most
of the year.
New Orleanian Ray Ruiz and his partner, Kim
Pedersen, were celebrating Kim's recent birthday as well as
the purchase of a new apartment in Nice. Now that they have their B
and B in New Orleans (La Dauphine),
an apartment in Santa Fe, an apartment on rue Greneta in the 2nd and
now a nest in Nice, all of which they rent and profit from, they're
happily singing and celebrating.
Patsy and Gill Murray came to Paris on an apartment exchange and now are singing the blues about leaving -- already talking about when they will be back. Gill, an artist from Boston, will be speaking Sunday the 18th at Paris Soirées on "What Makes a Painter, Paint?" Visit http://www.ParisSoirees.com for more information.
Patricia Laplante Collins, director of Paris Soirées, made her usual visit with pup, Eve, in tow. Oboeist Allison Smith, joined us later, but entered doing her bird calls she's becoming famous for!
Newcomer, Julie Vetter, hands out her card that simply says "Web Site Help" -- which there should be lots of call for that! Check out http://askjv.info if you are one of those in need!
Parler Parlor members Monique Filliot and Beatrice Truesdale came to check at Après Midi. Monique is retired and taking in all that Paris has to offer, while practicing speaking English. Beatrice is doing the same, in reverse, practicing speaking French and taking lessons with Marie-Elisabeth Crochard, of Parler Parlor.
Old friend, Vincent Menill, divides his time between New York, Miami and Paris, coming here for the last 30 years -- he says it's his second home.
Jill and Alan Schrift once bumped into me at Chez Omar, then decided to come visit with us on a more formal basis. Alan is a professor of philosophy and is a writer. Jill is a professor of art working in pastels and ceramics. They've owned an apartment here for a long time, and loving it.
