OF June 10, 2008

We had more than a full house at Parler Paris Après Midi Tuesday, with a healthy injection of newcomers along with lots of regulars we always appreciate seeing. We opened all the windows to let in the warm breezes, the noise from the street drifting up to add to the din of the conversation.
Newcomers...
Daly Reville lives in Manhattan, but wants to have an apartment in Paris. Do we blame her?
Vanessa Hulme, a client who came to visit us for the first time at Après Midi, is in the process of purchasing an apartment on the Place des Vosges with her husband, Colin, only to discover it had never been classified as an "apartment," but as an "attic." This one is going to be 'very interesting.'
Dorothy Renn is a voice we remember well from the many conference calls in which she has particitpated, but we'd never met until Tuesday. Determined to move to Paris permanently, the discussion was centered on visas -- why and how to obtain them.
Florence Richburg is retired from the Air Force, but is an American student studying French at the Alliance Française determined to find a way to live in Paris. She may have found her solution -- as when I advertised that I was looking for an assistant, she quickly said YES, she'd be delighted to take the job! Stay tuned for more news to come!
Jane and Tim Smith, who live and work in England spend as much time in Englad, but spend as much time as they can in their tiny apartment in "Les Batignolles" (17th arrondissement). She's a health researcher and Tim is an architect.
Morris Patan is here to learn French and possibly to purchase an apartment, currently living in the "Haut Marais" renting an apartment from another one of our past attendees. He's already looking for a studio somewhere in the Marais and a part-time job!
Regulars...
Jeanne Velu, with BH Relocation, came to introduce her colleague, Pascale Heuzé, a Frenchwoman with a new business -- "Paris Version à la Française."
Long time attendee Dolores Lilley just returned from a voyage to the Antarctic and is now contemplating her next great adventure after July when she returns to Canada.
And Mary Louise Sillman, who we have missed for several months, was back after a grand adventure in India. What traveling souls we have!
Rob Mandel and Lois Alexander visited with us last month, and again, had nothing to share on paper with us, but plenty of "pleasure" to share with us in person.
Alice Needham and Bill Sandie were back for a second time with tales of apartment repaire and travel.
Elizabeth Crochard, co-coordintor of the Parler Parlor French-English Conversation Group stopped in to say hello -- a rare occasion in her busy life between her home in the country and apartment in near Marseille.
Tom Regan, Louisiana native and part-time resident of Paris, is back and loving his rue Saint-Paul apartment.
Gar Westfall, a resident of Hawaii, is spending more and more time in Paris these days and is always showing off his fabulous iPhone, forever taking pictures with it.
Paul and Paris Tannish stopped in to say hello. Paul performed his original compositions on guitar recently at "The Beaver" on the Ile Saint-Louis, much to everyone's total delight! We hope he'll be back with more soon.
Patricia Laplante Collins, of Paris Soirées, doesn't miss a single session -- even after years and years. She's back with her pup, Eve, in tow who we are always happy to see.
Dale Novick Gaber doesn't miss a session if she can help it, with her adorable "Mon Petit Château" just few blocks away. She rents is when she's not there through our rental service, Parler Paris Apartments.
Marilee McClintock, Peace Corps Director and traveler extraordinaire finally had good enough timing to come say hello. She's been so happy with her rental apartment in the 11th, that she's renting it now fullish time and purchased herself another one!
Jerry
and Pam Shuttlesworth, were back, too...as owners
of an apartment in the 12th
they use while they're here and rent the rest of the time..
Until next time...July 8th and keep in mind, that in August, we take a break.
