MEETING OF APRIL 10, 2007
(Photos do not match the descriptions!)

The gorgeous spring weather was conducive to everyone coming out for Après Midi.

Dale Novick Gaber, a psychologist practicing life coaching and a regular at Après Midi, brought an old friend from New Orleans, Barbara Friedman. Barbara will be running the Marathon this coming Sunday. It turns out Barbara, who hasn't lived in New Orleans for 30 years, now living in Montreal, Canada, went to the same high school as another attendee, my own sister, Diana Gorlin. They had lots to catch up on!

Diana, an interiors specialist in New Orleans, and her husband, Jack Gorlin, have been coming here for years, here now in celebration of her 60th birthday this coming June. Her profession became very handy when they found themselves with just the studs and bricks left from their Metairie, Louisiana home after Hurricane Katrina flooding.

Alan Smid has become a real regular, happy us, and each time he is less shy to the camera. Mary Louise Sillman always bejeweled in her own creations, brought along her smiling face and good humor.

Ana Escomel was back, wearing a red top I also own and have loved for a very long time! And of course, one of our favorite regulars, Patricia Laplante Collins of Paris Soirées was along with her always smiling face.

Gar Westfall, from Hawaii, was nursing a cold, but wouldn't miss Après Midi. He's here for his usual twice-per-year stay of two months. He shares the same sentiments with Walter and Shirley Pappas from Washington, DC, who have been visiting in the same way.

Nelda Martin came to Paris because it "feeds her soul" and she "walks, walks, walks and enjoys." Jenny Reeve lost her heart to Paris the first time she visited and now she visits every chance she gets. She's running the Marathon, too...any excuse to be here!

Regular Stella Strugnell came to Paris because of her husband's work, but now she's here for good writing and sharing her time with Cyprus. Not bad. Judith Merians, an entertainment lawyer and executive, literary agent, and film school professor in Los Angeles, who joined us that afternoon, is teaching a scriptwriting workshop on April 21st also at La Pierre du Marais (visit /frenchproperty/conference/ for more information). Susan Sisko, a scriptwriter and friend of Judith's, joined us and chatted up with Jack quite a bit.

Medora Kaltenbach is in Paris part time to see everything she can see, but Sue Medsger moved here 7 months ago and is working on learning French. Parler Paris Marketing and Editorial Director, Lynda Sydney, spending time in Paris from her usual Toronto home, was of course with us and visiting with all our old friends.

Special Note: The next Après Midi will be held May 15th instead of the usual second Tuesday of the month due to Victory Day on May 8th. See you then!
