La
Rose du Marais is a beautiful and spacious home away from home
in the heart of Paris' oldest district -- Le Marais. Professionally
renovated and redecorated, this charming apartment is in a stately
and quiet building just a few blocks away from Place des Vosges.
On the third floor with an elevator, you may enter the building
from both boulevard Beaumarchais and rue des Arquebusiers in the
3rd Arrondissement, making it convenient to Métro lines,
buses and all of central Paris.
Rue des Arquebusiers is an oasis in the bustling Marais. The street
hosts a small, elegant hotel, Villa Beaumarchais, featured prominently
in the 2001 French film, Va Savoir, by the famous film director,
Jacques Rivette, and a magnificent jewel of a rose garden, Jardin
Saint-Gilles-Grand-Veneur adjacent to the grounds of Saint Denis
du Saint Sacrement and its abbey.
The
Beaumarchais lobby retains its original mosaic tile work, stained
glass windows and glass block ceiling. It is literally like stepping
back in time to turn-of-the-20th-century Paris.
The apartment’s grand entry doors lead into a sun-bathed
foyer with beautiful rose trellis ironwork and streams of natural
light from the large windows that line the entire apartment overlooking
the peaceful cobblestoned courtyard. A lovely powder room is just
off the foyer.
The foyer opens to a spacious dining room, with an antique dining
set that seats up to eight people. A hand-crafted marble-topped
vaisselier buffet is conveniently equipped with dinnerware, a
sink and hidden dishwasher. On the walls are original illustrations
by Hansi, one of France’s most famous illustrators of the
WWI era.
The kitchen is entirely new with new custom cabinetry and appliances
-- a full sized oven, a four-burner stove top with both gas and
electric burners, a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, coffee
maker, toaster, and all cooking equipment and utensils…it
even has a concealed washer/dryer.
Just beyond the dining area is a comfortable living room equipped
with a custom-made sofa, (built 2 blocks away at l’Atelier
Saint Sabin) which cleverly converts into either a double bed
or two singles -- each as comfortable as the master bed (also
a Saint Sabin original). There is a cozy leather love seat that
complements all of the other French antique wood furnishings.
The room is intimately lit with unique locally hand-crafted table
and floor lamps. Original prints from one of Paris’ most
noted photographers adorn the walls.
Overlooking the courtyard, the master bedroom, boasts a custom-built
queen-sized bed dressed with plush bed linens and four huge built-in
drawers in its base. A full size antique armoire provides ample
space for hanging clothes, as well as shelving. As this and the
second bedroom are located on the courtyard side, your Parisian
dreams will never be interrupted by the bustle of Boulevard Beaumarchais.
A hallway off the living room connects the second bedroom with
the bathroom, giving it an “en-suite” feeling. The
bedroom features a full-sized bed, a small desk, bookshelves,
another antique armoire and closets. It has the feeling of a Paris
writer’s retreat.
The bright and luxurious bathroom has been completely renovated
to combine every modern convenience with an “old Paris”
feeling using the highest quality period fixtures and gleaming
white “Métro” tiles. The main bathroom sink
is solidly traditional and spacious with a full glass shower,
with rainfall shower head as well as a smaller traditional shower
head. The wall-mounted, heated towel rack ensures that you will
never be cold when stepping out of the shower to towels that are
warm and fluffy.
Your favorite programming can be viewed on the large flat screen
high-definition television and if you're in for the evening, you
may cozy up to a movie or listen to Edith Piaf on the combination
DVD/CD player. Cable HDTV allows you to watch over 100 channels,
including several in English such as CNN and BBC World. The apartment
comes with a private WiFi signal and unlimited free telephone
calls to over 100 countries, including the U.S., U.K., Canada
and Australia. These services as well as all linens are included
in the rental rate
The
Area Around Boulevard Beaumarchais and Rue des Arquebusiers
The
apartment is located near Place des Vosges, between Place de la

largest open-air market in the city (Richard-Lenoir), movie theaters

Your service was first class. Thank you for a hassle-free vacation
in a well-appointed, roomy and comfortable apartment. The
location of La Rose du Marais is its first selling point, in the
midst of the charming and vibrant Marais district. Yet it is also
a quiet apartment, being at the back of the apartment block abutting
a peaceful laneway. The apartment itself welcomes you the minute
you step inside, chic and cozy in its decor, and with ample living
room for an inner-city two-bedroom apartment. You are welcomed
with freshly-ground coffee in the
pantry, a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and good instructions
to help you settle effortlessly into your paris home for your
vacation. We would return to la rose du marais without hesitation.

Our
family had the pleasure of renting La Rose du Marais from December
30th to January 2nd. The apartment was beautiful and very well
equipped to meet all our needs. The quartier was also lovely and
we had a wonderful time during our visit. Thank you to everyone
involved in arranging the rental, especially John, and Jennifer
who was kind enough to meet us upon our arrival to provide keys
to the apartment. We will be happy to promote your services to
all our Canadian students, friends and family who are planning
trips to Paris in the future.

The
moment we stepped into La Rose du Marais, we knew we had made
an incredible choice for where to stay in Paris. This apartment's
invitingly warm decor and large rooms made living with five people
extremely comfortable. From the floor to ceiling ironwork in the
foyer to the gorgeous armoires in the bedrooms, we were surrounded
by beauty. Although the streets of Paris called to us each day,
we were often drawn back to "La Rose" to relax in its
warmth and charm. The day we left, we truly felt we were leaving
our home in Paris.
