On
the third floor with elevator of an elegant "pierre-de-taille"
building, on a quiet stair-stepped street in Montmartre, with no
through traffic or hint of noise, sits "La Bonne Nobel."
Completely renovated in late 2007, this gem is bright, shiny and
luxuriously comfortable. Every surface and corner of the apartment
has been exquisitely decorated in soothing tones of pale blues,
beiges and soft browns.
From the entry door to the apartment, one steps into a mirrored
foyer, which in turn opens to access the entire apartment and an
open dining area. A specially imported glass and chrome dining table
is surrounded by translucent chairs and lit with an elegant chandelier.
At close hand is the unique and ergonomically efficient, angled
kitchen of luscious wood and iridescent tiles, is fully equipped
with a combination conventional and microwave oven, Nespresso machine
with a full supply of coffee pods in a range of flavors, a stove
top with four full burners and an under-the-counter Whirlpool brand
refrigerator.
Next to the kitchen, and hidden behind a beautiful wooden door resembling
the kitchen cabinetry, you will find a spacious bathroom with a
full sized, glass enclosed tub and shower with a rainfall shower
head -- a perfect place to soak your body after a long day of sightseeing.
The Asian design influences of the room are most evident by the
sink and vanity, which make full use of the room’s large size.
Designer towels are abundantly available and can be dried on the
heated towel rack. In the mirrored closet opposite the tub are a
full sized, separate washer and dryer.
The living room is the heart of the apartment, which has been furnished
for both comfort and taste. The floor to ceiling "bibliotèque"
wall unit houses the large flat screen Sony television, DVD player
and cable TV with over 100 channels. A selection of English language
movies is at your disposal as are music CDs.
The apartment’s "den," does triple duty. It has
a good size sitting area surrounding a beautiful antique fireplace,
with a comfortable queen-sized sofa bed that transforms it into
a second bedroom in an instant. In addition there is a large built
in desk and shelving/storage unit complete with a brand new printer
and office supplies in abundance where one can work or study.
Whether you are planning on working at the apartment, or just staying
in touch, the apartment is equipped with free WiFi high speed Internet
and Free local and long distance phone calls to over 70 countries,
including land lines and cell phones in the U.S. and Canada.
The master bedroom is really “la pièce de la résistance”
of this wonderful apartment. A new high-quality queen-sized bed
is topped with plush linens and pillows, and promises to make your
Parisian dreams last through the night without interruption. A large
mirrored closet provides more than enough room for you to unpack
all of your things easily.
The
Area Around the Apartment:
Rue
Nobel is one of Montmartre's most charming staircases -- the Montmartre
we now know as depicted in the movie "Amelie Poulain."
Cars can't drive down rue Nobel, so it's as quiet a spot in Paris
as you can find.
The
imposing Sacré Coeur (La Basilique du Sacré Coeur
de Montmartre) is just a short walk away, as is the artists' square,
Place du Tertre, the Montmartre Cemetery (Cimetière de Montmartre),
Le Moulin Rouge and the only working vineyard in Paris.
Montmartre
is a hill which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit order
of priests was founded and the home to many famous artists who had
studios there -- such as Salvador Dalí, Claude Monet, Pablo
Picasso and Vincent van Gogh. At the end of the 19th-century, the
area developed into a center of free-wheeling and decadent entertainment.
Here is where was (and still is) the popular cabaret, the Moulin
Rouge, and at Le Chat Noir, artists, singers and performers regularly
appeared including Yvette Guilbert, Marcelle Lender, Aristide Bruant,
La Goulue, Georges Guibourg, Mistinguett, Fréhel, Jane Avril,
Damia and others.
Montmartre
is an officially designated historic district with limited development
allowed in order to maintain its historic character. A funicular
railway, the Funiculaire de Montmartre, operated by RATP, ascends
the hill from the south while the "Montmartrobus" circles
the hill.
Le
Métro Lamarck-Caulaincourt is just a few minutes walk from
the apartment along with several buses. There is no shortage of
wonderful neighborhood bistrots, markets, boutiques and amenities
of all kinds.
This
is a very special corner of Paris with an ambiance all its own that
will seduce you, no doubt!
