Le Charles V is a beautifully appointed Marais studio located on the quiet rue Charles V, just steps from the charming Village Saint-Paul's art galleries and antique dealers. For location, this can't be beat -- as only two blocks away lies the Seine and the Ile Saint-Louis, Place de la Bastille is just steps away as well as the elegant Place des Vosges. Less than a five-minute walk brings you to the Saint-Paul Métro stop and numerous buses serve the area.

Step outside to a treasure trove in the heart of Le Marais...from savory to sweet. Start at the boulangerie, then move onto the fromagerie. Do as the Parisians do: dine in on gourmet take-out -- perfect roast chicken with potatoes along side. Don't forget to finish up at the patisserie. Want to go out? Discover the Marais' bistros and brasseries just moments from your front door. Along the way, uncover a few of Paris' best kept shopping secrets in the chic boutiques lining the streets.

Protected by two digicode controlled doors at street level, the apartment is located on the 5th (European) floor of the building. The elevator makes for easy coming and going. Three, floor to ceiling east facing windows fill the apartment with beautiful light during the day, as well as offering a lovely view of the surrounding rooftops.

Newly renovated and tastefully decorated, you'll find every amenity provided for. Brand new furnishings and bed make for a relaxed and restful stay. Two large, comfortable armchairs in the living room area allow you to read, watch TV or just relax. The dining table is generous in size and can seat up to three people.

The full kitchen includes a cook top, refrigerator, and microwave/convection oven, as well as a bar with stools for a quick meal. For your added convenience the apartment has its own washer/dryer combo unit.

The bathroom is equipped with a shower, sink and toilet in one well laid out room, which is always stocked with plush fresh towels prior to your arrival.

Designed for the “plugged in” traveler, the apartment has free WiFi Internet, cable TV with over 100 channels, including Sky TV, and free international phone calling to over 90 countries.

The Area Around Village St. Paul

This is one Paris' most historic districts. The wall of Charles V, built from 1356 to 1383 is one of the city walls of Paris, built on the right bank of the river Seine, outside the wall of Philippe Auguste and replacing it. In the 1640s, the western part of the wall of Charles V was demolished and replaced by the larger Louis XIII wall, with the demolished material reused in the new wall. This new enclosure was totally destroyed in the 1670s and replaced by the Grands Boulevards. The rue Charles V was formerly called the rue Neuve Saint-Paul.

The Village Saint Paul, located on the western end of rue Charles V just behind the Saint Paul-Church and between rue Saint-Antoine and the Seine, is a self-contained area dedicated to peace and the art of living. This tiny block of houses with its stone streets is entirely pedestrian and accessible only through arched passageways. Here you’ll find many antique dealers with their doors open every day of the week including Sunday and one special vintage clothing shop of particular note, "Venus sur Cour" which specializes in erotic figurines and sexy clothing.

The district is teeming with museums, historic sights, restaurants, boutiques and all the amenities one could imagine. You are in the very heart of the city with centuries-old Paris surrounding you. Be sure to visit the islands -- the Ile Saint-Louis and the Ile de la Cité, the area around La Bastille, Place des Vosges and the Hôtel de Ville...and you will have more to do than time allows!

Guest Comments:

As they say...location, location, location! This quiet Marais apartment is perfectly located for shopping (the twice-weekly Bastille Farmers Market is great fun), restaurants, bus routes, several Métro stations and easy strolls to many of Paris's major sites. The apartment is nicely decorated and luminous in the sunshine. I especially enjoyed being on the 6th floor with wonderful views over the Paris rooftops. Everything worked well including the appliances, internet, plenty of hot water, towels and linens - plus the comfort of knowing that someone at Parler Paris was just a phone call away if anything went sideways. The weekly housekeeper services for longer stays was the frosting on the cake!

Janet M., Oakland, CA

We loved our stay at the Charles V. It was very cozy with great heaters and lots of light that was welcome on some chilly, cloudy Paris days. It is in a great location and wonderful neighborhood with great restaurants all around. The Metro access was easy. It was well-equiped and the personal assistance was helpful and comforting.

Jane N., Salem, Oregon

When we arrived at the Charles V apartment, it looked as lovely as the pictures. Being situated in a prime location, it was beautifully light-filled and had everything we needed. We also felt that we got value for money, as the furnishings were reminiscent of a plush hotel but without the massive cost. Lastly, we really appreciated their compassion when our flight was canceled and they allowed us to leave later in the day than we originally intended to. Thank you!
